MARCH

MARCH for narrator and flexible ensemble explores the rhythms, dynamics and emotional landscapes of political marching at a time of upheaval and polarisation.
The piece was comissioned by CoMA for their 2024 festival, and relaunched for the PRS Foundation's New Music Biennial 2025 at Southbank Centre and Bradford City of Culture. A recording was aired on BBC Radio 3, and will soon be out on NMC Records.

The score is interactive, asking each player a question related to protests. This invites the players to make their own choices, with their response prompting which musical material they should then play. The resulting musical interpretation signifies a reflection of their actions, feelings, and views on themes ranging from violent resistance to ketchup.
